About Volodymyr Zelensky
The Ukrainian President who became a global icon during the Russian invasion of 2022. Zelensky was a comedian and actor who played a president on television before becoming one in real life. His party was named after his TV show Servant of the People. When Russia invaded, Zelensky famously declined evacuation, saying I need ammunition, not a ride. His nightly video addresses rallied the Ukrainian people and the world. Zelensky was named Time Person of the Year in 2022. His wartime leadership transformed him from a struggling politician into a Churchillian figure of resistance against aggression.
