About George Washington
The first President of the United States and Commander in Chief of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Washington established many presidential traditions including the two term limit and the cabinet system. He presided over the Constitutional Convention of 1787. His Farewell Address warned against political parties and foreign entanglements. Washington is called the Father of His Country. He was unanimously elected twice by the Electoral College. After two terms he voluntarily stepped down, establishing the peaceful transfer of power.
