Sardar Patel
About Sardar Patel
The Iron Man of India who unified the nation after independence. Patel was Nehrus deputy but was more conservative and practical. He integrated over 565 princely states into the new Indian Union through diplomacy and, when necessary, force. Patel died in 1950, just two years after independence. Had he lived longer, Indian history might have been different. His pragmatism contrasted with Nehrus idealism. The Statue of Unity in Gujarat, at 182 meters the tallest statue in the world, was built in his honor and completed in 2018.
