About Narendra Modi
The Indian Prime Minister since 2014. Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat during the 2002 anti Muslim riots, for which he faced criticism. As Prime Minister, he pursued Hindu nationalist policies including the revocation of Kashmirs special status in 2019. Modi implemented demonetization in 2016, cancelling 86 percent of currency overnight, which caused economic disruption. His government built the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, fulfilling a longstanding Hindu nationalist goal. Modi is the most dominant Indian politician since Indira Gandhi. His leadership combines economic modernization with Hindu nationalism.
