About Mette Frederiksen

The Danish Prime Minister since 2019. Frederiksen is the youngest Danish Prime Minister in history. She led her party back to the left on economics while taking a hard line on immigration. Denmark passed a law allowing the confiscation of valuables from asylum seekers. Frederiksen triggered international outrage by suggesting that Syrian refugees return to parts of Syria. She navigated COVID 19 with an early and controversial mink cull that devastated the Danish fur industry. Her government pursued ambitious climate targets. Frederiksen survived a political crisis over the mink cull inquiry in 2022.
