George Clinton
About George Clinton
The fourth Vice President, serving under Jefferson and Madison. Clinton was the longest serving governor of New York before becoming vice president. He was the first vice president to die in office, in 1812. Clinton was an anti Federalist who opposed the ratification of the Constitution. As vice president he was too old and frail to be effective. He is one of the founding fathers who is largely forgotten despite his significant early career in New York politics.
