Dwight D Eisenhower
About Dwight D Eisenhower
The thirty fourth President and Supreme Allied Commander during World War II. Eisenhower planned and commanded the D Day invasion. His presidency was marked by Cold War tensions, the Korean War armistice, and the beginning of the Interstate Highway System. Eisenhower sent federal troops to integrate Little Rock Central High School in 1957. He created NASA in response to the Soviet Sputnik launch. Eisenhower warned of the military industrial complex in his farewell address. His calm, fatherly leadership style made him extremely popular. He served two terms with broad bipartisan support.
