The Japanese Prime Minister for just 9 months in 2009 to 2010. Hatoyama led the Democratic Party of Japan to a historic victory, ending over 50 years of LDP dominance. His brief premiership stumbled over the issue of relocating a US Marine base in Okinawa. Hatoyama promised to move the base off Okinawa but failed, angering both Okinawans and the US. He resigned after just 9 months. His government was the first non LDP administration in Japan since 1994. Hatoyama was called the alien for his eccentric personality and ideas.
