The queen whose name defined an era. Victoria reigned for 63 years, the longest until Elizabeth II. During her reign, Britain became the worlds leading industrial and imperial power. The British Empire reached its greatest extent. Victoria married Prince Albert, and their nine children married into royal families across Europe, making her the grandmother of Europe. After Alberts death in 1861, Victoria wore mourning for the rest of her life. She was the first monarch to use railways and photography. The Victorian era represents the peak of British global power.
