Gordon Brown
About Gordon Brown
The Labour Prime Minister who succeeded Tony Blair in 2007. Brown, a former Chancellor, was a brilliant economist who had guided Britains economy through a decade of growth. As Prime Minister, he faced the 2008 financial crisis, nationalizing banks and coordinating the global response. Brown was awkward in public, contrasting with Blairs charisma. He called an election that never happened, a damaging misstep. Brown lost the 2010 election to David Cameron. His post premiership focused on global education and development. Brown was a more substantial policy thinker than Blair but lacked political timing and communication skills.
