About Eva Peron

The First Lady of Argentina known as Evita, who became more beloved than her husband Juan Peron. Evita came from poverty and became an actress before marrying Peron. As First Lady, she ran the Eva Peron Foundation, which distributed aid to the poor. She advocated for womens suffrage, which was granted in 1947. Evita died of cervical cancer in 1952 at age 33. Her funeral drew enormous crowds. She was given the title Spiritual Leader of the Nation. The musical Evita by Andrew Lloyd Webber made her story globally famous. Her embalmed body had a bizarre journey, being hidden for over 20 years before being returned to Argentina.
